Many multiple perspectives were used during this module. Students will have to analyze the ideologies of both Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X and how these ideologies effected the actions of the common person.
Students will have to analyze the history and impact of the Civil Rights Act by looking at the mentality of the common people from multiple perspectives.
Students will have to analyze the effectiveness of the Civil Rights Act on the modern day world. Students will have to choose a side and analyze the current political culture using a plethora of digital sources to support their conclusions.
Cause/Effect
Module reflects that different Civil Rights leaders had different ideologies and that different groups of people were effected by the movement in critical ways. Students will have to analyze these perspectives and draw conclusions about the long term effect of these ideas and actions.
Primary Sources
Students will go beyond simple primary sources due to the digital nature of this module. Embedded within this module, students will listen to interviews, watch debates and biographies, listen to Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream Speech," read court documents, and analyze primary source images.
Each lesson plan is embedded with numerous technology-based primary sources that would not be possible with a textbook alone.
Secondary Sources
Students will be able to engage in digitally driven secondary sources such as online biographies, slideshow presentations, and supplemental reading material.
