High school history students (Grade 10 or 11) will explore key issues that led up to the passing of the 1964 Civil Rights Act. These issues will include methodologies and ideologies concerning approaches to change, key figures from the Civil Rights Movement, critical events, and the different forms of support and resistance the Civil Rights Movement faced as a whole, This lesson assumes that students already have a sufficient background on the 14th and 15th amendments. This digital module will be used in conjunction with formal classroom lectures and discussions. Information gaps will be filled in during these sessions and students will be expected to take two-column notes during instruction.
